|بِسۡمِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ|
Madd means to prolong the sound of a vowel. The minimum prolongation of a vowel is to the measure of two vowels (2 counts), which is equal to the measure of one alif.
This is pronounced from the jawf, for two counts.
